L\u2019aumento del costo della vita non \u00e8 un fenomeno moderno, ma un\u2019ulteriore fase di sfruttamento nell\u2019ulteriore concentrazione di ricchezza, privilegi e potere.<\/p>\n
L\u2019effetto di destabilizzazione sociale derivante dall\u2019aumento dei prezzi di base, come quelli del cibo e dell\u2019energia, \u00e8 una minaccia tale da spingere i governi a trovare una risposta.<\/p>\n
Ha persino portato alcuni degli ultra ricchi illuminati (per interesse personale) a chiedere di essere tassati di pi\u00f9.<\/p>\n
Tuttavia, immettere nuovamente denaro, in misura ridotta e a breve termine, nel sistema \u00e8 un\u2019operazione simbolica che nasconde una disfunzione cronica.<\/p>\n
La lotta tra capitale e lavoro nelle societ\u00e0 industrializzate aveva prodotto una pace, anche se incompleta, con momenti di tensione nei negoziati sulla distribuzione della ricchezza generata.<\/p>\n
Oggi, nonostante la notevole produttivit\u00e0 collettiva che ha reso l\u2019umanit\u00e0 pi\u00f9 ricca e tecnologicamente pi\u00f9 avanzata che mai, la povert\u00e0 collettiva \u00e8 in aumento.<\/p>\n
Il \u201clibero\u201d mercato funziona \u2013 nell\u2019interesse dei ricchi e degli \u201cinfluenti\u201d!<\/p>\n
Il recente rapporto di Oxfam, giustamente intitolato Survival of the Richest, racconta la grossolana e oscena concentrazione della ricchezza.<\/p>\n
Ma questa conseguenza \u00e8 molto pi\u00f9 grave del semplice fatto che pochi hanno di pi\u00f9 a spese di centinaia di milioni di persone che vivono nella miseria.<\/p>\n
Ha dato origine al fenomeno del \u201ccapitale inattivo\u201d, il cui scopo principale rimane quello di mantenere il proprio valore e il proprio potere di dominio.<\/p>\n
Questo spiega l\u2019insistenza del capitalismo sulla crescita, nel caso delle societ\u00e0 in via di sviluppo, e sulla ri-crescita, nel caso delle societ\u00e0 avanzate, attraverso situazioni distruttive come le guerre, la devastazione ambientale e l\u2019obsolescenza programmata e il rinnovo dei prodotti.<\/p>\n
Nel frattempo i cittadini, soprattutto quelli espulsi o scartati dai mercati del lavoro, sono diventati pi\u00f9 sfruttabili in quanto consumatori costretti a pagare oltremodo i beni di prima necessit\u00e0, non per il loro \u201ccosto della produzione\u201d, ma per i profitti.<\/p>\n

Ever increasing living costs are not a modern malaise but another and ulterior exploitative phase in the further concentration of wealth, privilege and power.<\/p>\n
The socially destabilising effect from the burden of burgeoning basic costs such as food and energy is enough of a threat that governments are clamouring to appear to be responding.<\/p>\n
It has even led to some of the enlightened (by self interest) ultra wealthy to ask to be taxed more.<\/p>\n
However, putting money, in small and short-term measure, back into the system is tokenism and hides a chronic dysfunction.<\/p>\n
The tussle between capital and labour in industrialised societies had produced a peace, even if incomplete with tense moments in negotiations over distribution of generated wealth.<\/p>\n
Today, notwithstanding considerable collective productivity that has made humanity richer and technologically more advanced than ever, collective poverty is on the increase.<\/p>\n
The \u2018free\u2019 market is working \u2013 in the interests of the rich and influential!<\/p>\n
Oxfam\u2019s recent aptly named report, Survival of the Richest<\/i>, chronicles the gross and obscene concentration of wealth.<\/p>\n
But this consequence is far more serious than just that a few have more at the expense of hundreds of millions who live in misery.<\/p>\n
It has given rise to the phenomenon of idle capital whose principal aim remains how to retain its value and influential status.<\/p>\n
That explains capital\u2019s insistence on growth, in the case of developing societies, and re-growth, in the case of developed societies from destructive situations such as wars, environmental devastation and product obsolescence and renewal.<\/p>\n
In the meantime citizens, especially those displaced or discarded by labour markets, have become more exploitable as consumers forced to pay excessively for essentials, not because they cost to produce but for profits.<\/p>\n
